Tree Planting Day

We had a wonderful free community tree planting afternoon at Field of Joy during February half term,

19 people of all ages attended from the community, from five year olds, to elders and plenty of teens and young adults inbetween! Many thanks everyone for all your enthusiasm and hard work,

Everyone worked together to prep and plant an impressive 40 meters of an eclectically rich mixed hedge, fuelled by hot chocolate and cake!

The assortment of trees planted included holly, hawthorn, crab apple, hazel, goat willow, and downy birch, all chosen to enhance natural habitat creation for wildlife and ourselves, increasing biodiversity on the site and in future to also provide some healthy browsing enrichment for our herbivores.

Groundwork was also laid for the planting of wildflowers during our free community sessions in the Easter holidays and family after school sessions in the summer term.

This free community session was funded by a Greening Grant from Norfolk Community Foundation,

We have two more upcoming free community sessions on 2nd April 2 til 4 and 9th April 2 til 4, all welcome as well as some free family after school greening sessions during summer term, on Thursdays
